Gribbles Veterinary Pathology, New Zealand is an innovative group that enjoy sharing their knowledge and expertise with you. Our veterinary pathologists, scientists, laboratory technicians and support staff are committed to providing the very best in veterinary laboratory diagnostics.

Our veterinary laboratories are distributed throughout the country in Auckland, Hamilton, Palmerston North, Christchurch and Dunedin. This local focus enables an understanding of the local area and helps in ensuring that we provide fast, friendly and helpful service.
The Gribbles National Network is linked by a modern computer system that allows cases tested in one laboratory to be accessed, real time in another. This will be useful to cover absences of pathologists, for second opinions and will further enhance our quality assurance. Gribbles is proud to currently have the only IANZ and GLP accredited veterinary laboratories in New Zealand.
Our local focus is born out of our understanding of your local area and its unique characteristics. We are focused on providing you and your clinic with a fast, friendly and helpful service.
Our Standards
Our laboratories are purpose-built, state of the art facilities that offer a wide range of laboratory tests. Four of our laboratories are IANZ (International Accreditation New Zealand) accredited under NZS/ISO/IEC 17025. The IANZ accreditation provides an assurance of technical competence, quality processes and professional services to a high standard. Gribbles were the first New Zealand veterinary laboratory network with IANZ accreditation.
In addition, our Hamilton laboratory has been inspected and accredited for compliance with the OECD standards of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and can perform testing for non-clinical health and safety studies. Again, Gribbles is the only veterinary laboratory in NZ to hold GLP registration.
Our Export agency at Palmerston North is accredited to ISO 17020/EN45004 and recognised as an agency by MAF Biosecurity to undertake export testing.
Our Technology
Our technology is leading edge. We are actively involved in the development and provision of various diagnostic and screening tests utilising the latest in PCR molecular technology. Our focus is to provide expert analytical and pathology services with outstanding customer service, by developing innovative solutions tailored to meet your needs.
Our People
The laboratory network boasts over 125 staff, including thirteen experienced and highly qualified veterinary pathologists with expertise in clinical and anatomical pathology of companion animals, livestock, wildlife and exotic species as well as experience in research projects. Our dedicated laboratory scientific team provide the highest standard of laboratory testing. We are focused on understanding and meeting our clients needs and providing the very best in pathology services.
Our Network
Our five laboratories in Auckland, Hamilton, Palmerston North, Christchurch and Dunedin work together to complement skills and provide a seamless diagnostic service. Specimens from all over New Zealand are generally within a ‘same-day service radius’ of our laboratories. Our computer system gives us the ability to share results within the network in real time.
Our network provides clients with up-to-date information, new testing methods and advice on all aspects of laboratory testing.

Customising solutions
Each project is considered as a unique challenge. Gribbles will work with you at the outset so that your needs are met as effectively as possible. A range of reporting options can be made available, including the reporting of all results via Excel at different stages in the testing process. This gives clients flexibility to view and manipulate data to best suit their needs.
Requests for specialised tests outside the scope of our individual laboratories are referred to reference laboratories around the country in order to provide the best possible service to our clients.
