Dr Jon Meyer
BVSc, DVSc, DiplACVP, Registered Veterinary Specialist - Clinical Pathology
Jon was born and brought up in South Africa. After graduating from the University of Pretoria (Onderstepoort, South Africa) in 1995 with a degree in veterinary science, he worked as a locum in both small and large animal practices around South Africa.
In 1996 Jon moved to the United Kingdom where he worked in general practice as a small animal practitioner for five years. It was during this time that he met his wife Lucy, and they were married in 2001. That same year he was accepted for a postgraduate degree at the Ontario Veterinary College (Guelph, Ontario). He completed a doctorate degree, specializing in clinical pathology in 2004.
Being half-kiwi and wanting to find his “roots”, (his mother was born and raised in Dunedin), he accepted a permanent position with Gribbles Pathology in NZ. In 2006 he successfully passed the American College of Veterinary Pathology board examinations.
When not at work he enjoys surfing, golfing and is a staunch Chiefs supporter.
