Dr Catherine Williamson
BVSc ( Hons) MMedVet ( Clin Lab Diag)
Catherine completed her BVSc degree at the University of Pretoria in 1982. From 1983 to 1988 she was in charge of the serology laboratory at the Onderstepoort Veterinary Research Institute, which encompassed testing for brucellosis, trypanosomiasis and paratuberculosis. During this time she furthered her studies, completing an honours degree in 1986.
Catherine developed a keen interest in providing a clinical pathology service for companion animals and whilst studying towards her MMedVet in Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics, she ran a diagnostic laboratory in Pretoria.
Catherine moved to Auckland in 1994, and joined Auckland Veterinary Diagnostics, which later became Gribbles Veterinary Pathology. She completed her MMedVet degree in 1997, with a dissertation/thesis investigating regeneration in horse erythrocytes.
Catherine’s main interests are companion animal pathology with a focus on cytopathology, haematology and wildlife pathology. Personal interests are travel and English literature.
